The
practice was established in 1969 in a Victorian House in Ramsey and has twice moved to new premises to keep up the standards of modern dentistry. The present building was purpose built in 1984 with room for 5 surgeries.
At that time Messers Huntley, Coombe and Jones ran the practice with the valuable help of an Associate and an Hygienist when available.
Because of the more recent difficulty of attracting
dental manpower, we have
relied on attracting dentists from overseas who wish to experience the Isle of
Man, and have enjoyed the company of a Canadian, a Finn and at present a New Zealander, Grant Hill, who has been with the practice for 10 years.
In February 2008 Peter Coombe retired and we are fortunate to be joined by Anna Gibb (to become Anna Gibb in April 2008), as an Associate Dentist. Anna has returned to her native Isle of Man.
George Huntley retires after 40 years at the end of 2008 and we are pleased to announce the arrival of Mark Walker to replace him. Mark comes to the Island from South Africa with his family and we welcome him to the practice.
The
practice has always tried to serve the dental needs of the local community, attempting
to provide a pleasant environment for patients. We see patients
from all over the Island and even further afield, who are seeking private treatment
such as cosmetic work. We had to become less reliant on the NHS system in order to provide an adequately funded good quality service. Acceptance of NHS patients is limited to children and a selected group of adults.
